Give Detroit Challenge Countdown - 5 days left!

Dear Friend; 

Our participation in the Give Detroit Challenge brought back a lot of
memories of the last six years of my life, which were dedicated first to
the development of the VOLTERRA INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE, and
then the programs and activities we organize there. A lot of you shared
this experience with me, for some of you Volterra is a new discovery. I
decided to create a SHORT VIDEO, a quick retrospect of the time since
the day the idea of the Volterra International Residential College was
born. It all started from a casual conversation over coffee at Bar dei
Priori in Volterra in late October 2009… 

The video is filled with wonderful memories of so many people who
contributed greatly to the idea, and the amazing experiences we have
created for those who live and work at the Residential College. I could
tell stories about everybody who you will see in the clip (some of you
will recognize yourselves there, too…). But there is one most special
person I would like to mention here:
 BRUNO LEON, the first Dean of the UofD School of Architecture. Some of
you have never met him, for many he is a legend. Bruno started the
program in Volterra 27 years ago; he loved Volterra, and he encouraged
me in the difficult moments of the project. He returned to Volterra many
times, last time for the inauguration of the Volterra Residential
College in May 2013. The newly open facility was a realization of his
life-long dream. He was truly happy. 
 Bruno passed away three weeks later.
