Welcome to Volterra! – New Beginnings

“Hello and welcome to Volterra,” is what this Summer’s group of study abroad students heard on Saturday May 2nd, 2026 when they moved into their dorms. After many long, tiring hours of travelling and trying to adapt to a new environment it was finally time to get settled into their home for the next three months!

This year there are twelve students studying together and everyone’s journey before and to Volterra was quite different. Some people chose to fly to Europe only a day or two before move-in day, but others decided to fly in earlier and explore a bit of Europe first.

The most popular city was Florence, Italy where Daisy, Brianna, Chloe, Stevae, and Sayyid all flew in to. The four girls landed at different times on the Friday evening and Saturday. Sayyid on the other hand took a chance to explore the city for three days by flying in a few days prior to the weekend.

Rome, Italy was another hot spot for flying in to; Gloria and Grant arrived there on April 29th, which gave them some time to explore and find the good spots to feel like a local.

The other five students, however, had flights earlier in April and travelled throughout Europe. KJ flew to Barcelona with his family before moving on to Marseille and Nice in France, then Monaco, and finally Volterra.

Then Angelina, Grace, Scarlett, and Teni flew to Frankfurt, Germany on April 15th, where they spent two days. After Frankfurt they attempted to experience as much as possible by making six more stops before Volterra. The first two stops were Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Brussels, Belgium followed by Paris and Nice in France, Monaco, and finally Genoa, Italy.

So, it is safe to say that all twelve students were very much tired from their journey and ready to relax while still being eager to explore Volterra. The students then did exactly that when classes started on May 4th!

Stay tuned to hear more about the Volterra experience!

Ciao!
