Ten Years Flew By….

Ten years ago, in October 2010, we were all ten years younger… and we organized a banquet to inaugurate our effort to raise money to renovate the future Residential College in Volterra. The event took place in the Detroit Yacht Club. Around 180 people participated. Just to remember a few highlights: Bruno Leon, the first Dean of the School of Architecture University of Detroit came from New Mexico. Steve Vogel still was the Dean at the time. Bob Tucker came out of retirement to meet everybody. John Mueller was still working at the SOA, and he didn’t miss the event either… The banquet was put together by a super energetic group of young alumni, whose names I will always remember: Ashley Flintoff, Dima Daimi, Matt Guinta, Michele Szostak etc. (BTW, if I missed your name, I am sorry, and I will add it gladly to the list here…)

This is what happened since then…

Since then so much has happened at the school…

Here are just a few videos that show snippets of time at the Residential College and our work there:

Here is a video showing a project that we are a part of, through the research of the Reality Capture Workshop program. A Roman Amphitheater was found in Volterra in 2015. The Soprintendenza della Archeologia has been working to excavate it for three years now (with much more to do). This year a few very well preserved underground chambers and tunnels were found, which are shown in the video. Imagine, that nobody entered them for almost two thousand years.
